Can we check in anytime?

Unfortunately not, as we are a privately owned lodge, not a hotel. We kindly ask you to let us know your arrival time on the day of your arrival so we can plan accordingly. You can send us a message via Booking.com or call us at +354 6209850. There is no staffed reception, so we rely on your cooperation.

Can we check in earlier?

(before 5:00 PM) No, we apologize. We need time between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM to prepare the rooms for the next guests. Since we also manage a 416-hectare estate in addition to running the lodge, it's not possible for us to be home at all times. For these reasons, we thank you for your understanding and for respecting our privacy.

Can we check in later? (after 9:00 PM)

Unfortunately not. Please understand that we observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM onwards. We also ask that you behave respectfully towards the other guests staying in the accommodation. For this reason, we cannot allow cooking after 10:00 PM. Thank you for respecting quiet hours. Check-in times also apply to the tiny houses. Exceptions are quiet hours, cooking, and showering, as you will have the entire house to yourself and there will be no other guests. We kindly ask you to behave accordingly and keep loud music or similar noises to a minimum.

Do you offer a laundry service?

Unfortunately not. We need the washing machine for our guests. You can do laundry at Camping Atlavik or at Tehusid in Egilsstadir.

Do you offer guided tours?

During peak season, we are unable to offer guided tours. However, we are always happy to provide you with tips and information on things to do in the area. ...

Is the Lodge accessible year-round?

We keep the lodge partially open during the winter months. Please always check the weather and road conditions when planning your trip. You can check this at road.is or vedur.is. Weather warnings are always announced in advance. Wind and snow conditions should not be underestimated, and roads (including Route 1) can be closed at any time. Remember to allow plenty of time for your daily journeys to ensure you arrive at the lodge on time.

Are children allowed at the lodge?

The apartments are only for two adults. There is no possibility of adding extra beds or cribs. The exception is the Superior Tiny House, which is for three people. Please contact us in advance if you plan to travel with a child.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are only allowed upon request. Please contact us in advance.

How can I pay?

The accommodation must be paid in advance 30 days before arrival. For last-minute bookings, payment can also be made on-site. We accept Visa/Debit cards.

Cancellation Policy Free

cancellation is possible up to 30 days before arrival. You will receive a full refund, excluding any applicable credit card fees.

Can we check out later? (after 10:00 AM)

Unfortunately, no. We need the time between check-in and check-out for room cleaning and other duties. Thank you for your understanding.

How do we reach the accommodation?

Hengifosslodge is located approximately 35 km outside of Egilsstadir. You can reach us via Route 931; the lodge is signposted. The road to our lodge is a gravel road but easily accessible for all vehicles (a 4x4 vehicle is only necessary during the winter months).

Do you offer meals at the accommodation?

Unfortunately, no. All apartments and tiny houses have a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering. Please remember to do your shopping in advance. The nearest town for shopping is Egilsstadir.
